Understanding
that children at this age learn primarily through play and experiential exploration,
we believe in providing a developmentally appropriate balance between structure
and freedom for self expression. Using the "Project Approach"
and the "Reggio Philosophy" as our educational foundation,
each child can learn about themselves and their world through a variety of learning
experiences. The classroom design incorporates a homelike environment with defined
areas for building, artistic expression, dramatic play, science exploration and
a quiet library corner. Curriculum plans are posted for families to view
the learning process within the classroom. Projects or themes help develop
the basis from which learning emerges. Our educational style is inventive, fun
and open ended, allowing for multiple outcomes and an expanded experience in learning.
Our innovative curriculum addresses all areas of social, emotional, cognitive
and physical development as the child learns through play. We use the outside
environment as a tool in education for these young apprentices by engaging
in gardening, explorations in nature, and various construction projects. |
