At
this stage, the child explores a sense of independence through play and experiential
exploration. We believe in providing a developmentally appropriate balance between
structure and the freedom for self- expression. Using the "Project
Approach" and the "Reggio Philosophy" as
our educational foundation, each child can learn about themselves and their world
through a variety of learning experiences. They want to touch, pour, pound and
move everything! Their environment must be safe while allowing them to explore
their actions and consequences. Rotating toys and classroom equipment is essential
to provide variety that can keep pace with their brain activity and curiosity. Weekly
curriculum plans are posted for families to view the learning process within the
classroom. Projects or themes help develop the basis that much of the learning
springs forth from. Whether we are planting a garden, building a train village
or cooking a special treat we can eat and play with, toddlers are using all of
their senses as they learn and grow. All areas of development are presented
in a fun and joyful manner where the child can prepare for the next level
of learning in the two year old classroom! |
