Our Classroom Focus
Students in our elementary educational system are rapidly learning who they are and how they interrelate with their peers, as well as the adults in their world. Life is often riddled with confusion and insecurities as they start to develop into an adolescent. At Serendipity, we use the "Reggio Philosophy" and "The Project Approach" as the building blocks of our curriculum and educational approach.

We offer an afterschool program and special camps during school breaks which bridge the public school system's schedule. Our focus is to create a sacred space where students feel emotionally safe and have the opportunity to explore their creativity.

Social skills, personal value and respect emerge as each student takes their place as a functional and integral part in our community. Everyone works together to serve snacks, care for the classroom, garden and discuss important issues in their lives. Special projects are developed from the classroom interest to encourage problem solving, critical thinking and creative expression. Environmental awareness and history are key subjects for the students, which assist them in their growing perceptions of their world.

Field trips are a part of our program where the class engages in adventure,
learning and discovery! Museums, parks, exhibits, theatrical performances and
farms are just a few places offering a fun and educational experience. During the
summer months lots of swimming and team sports are included in our weekly activities.
Friendships, life skills and memories are formed which can last a life time.
