What
An Infant Needs
A strong sense of security, belonging, value and acceptance.
Acknowledgement of their feelings and perceptions.
Freedom to explore who they are creatively and cognitively.
Acknowledgement they are social, caring & compassionate individuals who deserve
respect.
Meals are a Part of Growth &
Development All the infant's meals from birth to about 10 months must
be provided by the families. This puts the parent in the driver's seat where they
determine the brand and type of food given (i.e. low sodium, low sugar, organic,
homemade, etc.). Our policy helps reduce confusion on the introduction of new
foods and possible allergic reactions. As the infant moves closer to their first
birthday, the Center provides table food, which facilitates a smooth transition
into the toddler program where meals are provided by the Center. Health
& Safety Considerations Our toys and equipment are sanitized at
the end of each day (or during the day if necessary) to ensure a safe and healthy
environment for all the children. It is important to remember that families and
the Center must form a cooperative team which focuses on the well being of all
the children enrolled. This may mean keeping a child at home if they are sick
or not feeling good where extra TLC is necessary. The Serendipity staff is dedicated
to wellness and quality care with a goal for a conscious community established
between the teachers, children and families! We
Support Families & Develop a Community We embrace the Reggio
Philosophy in our school, and establishing a sense of community is very
important. The children and families are acknowledged as being an integral part
of our program. The parents are encouraged to visit anytime or call during the
day to check on their child, which facilitates an active role in their child's
day. We want the families well informed, and our classroom offers daily
reports with details of their child's activities. Specifics are given
which include meal times, when diaper changes were done and the times and length
of nap times. Special notes may be added for the families where our caregivers
share a milestone or new awareness their child had during the day. |
