The Infant's world of Nurturing
Our Infant Room Focus
Though an infant is small, they are capable of emotion, intelligence, compassion and developed social interaction. Providing a small and intimate environment helps to develop the building blocks of trust and security for the infant. Our professional and well trained caregivers offer a loving, calm and nurturing setting and understand it is important that the infant's needs are met promptly. Teachers operate with a "schedule on demand" where the child's needs are met individually and efficiently, and the caregivers view themselves as extended family. It is through predictability and genuine caring that the infant will develop their trust and sense of security.

There is a classroom curriculum posted where parents can view our weekly focus on infant development. Some examples of specific curriculum introductions might be shapes, colors, animals, flowers, family, etc. The infant's daily activities always include rocking, singing songs, and having individual interaction on the floor with the caregivers. Teachers have direct conversations with each child during the course of the day for special bonding, social interaction and language development. A variety of creative activities will be offered during the week which will encourage and support growth and development physically, cognitively, socially and emotionally.

Our physical environment is inviting, home-like and conducive to safe exploration where toys are rotated out on a regular basis. We understand that visual stimulation as well as tactile exploration is important to each child'slearning experience. Trips outdoors give the children an opportunity to interact with nature and experience the changing climates. Finger painting, arranging tactile blocks,
or pouring and sifting rice allows for sensory exploration. Rocking to Mozart & story-time
stimulate cognitive awareness.
